Yup, Todd! The quote is a quasi-truth: it sounds epigrammatic, but an ounce of thought reveals its speciousness. Yes, desire is important, but only because desire is a facet of the real meaning. Other things are important, as well. Saying Life is this or Life is that is perhaps to miss the totality.
