Why Write?

It’s not about perfection. It’s about writing all the time. I guess it’s a way of practicing the skill of written communication but it’s not really about practice when you’re doing it. It serves that function, honing a skill, but that’s not the driving force. The motives for writing are different somehow. Inexplicable in a lot of ways. I don’t know if I can quite find the words. But then, that’s part of the beauty of writing. You can try, revise, try again.

You can toss it all and start again.

However you go about it, sooner or later you’ll get something satisfying. And desire to the spirit is like hunger to the body so it’s not like the satisfaction ever truly lasts. It keeps you running back for more. Life is all about fulfilling yourself, serving whatever addictions you’ve developed, chosen, and gravitated towards. Nothing else really. And sure…
